This is strong proof of the company's determined efforts to ensure safety. The jury commended Lapland Safaris for its pioneering work in developing safety in the tourism field and particularly programme services in Lapland. Lapland Safaris is a nationally significant producer of tourism services. The company has cooperated closely with authorities and educational institutions to develop safety practices and new product ideas. Lapland Safaris has been an active and uniting force between different authorities in developing safety practices and arranging exercises. The Finnish Association of Fire Chiefs together with the Finnish Hospitality Association, the Federation of Finnish Financial Services and the producer of Turvallisuusuutiset.fi site established the award to promote safety work in the tourism and restaurant field. The award is presented for exemplary accident-prevention work or events or activities that have prevented or limited the amount of damage, outstanding efforts to improve safety in the tourism and restaurant field or the development of a safety-promoting device, procedure or practice.  The safety award goes to a company or organization. This is the fourth time it has been presented. The award proposal was made by Dr Johan Edelheim of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Director-General Timo E. Korva of the Regional State Administrative Agency for Lapland, Head of Security Kari Tiermas of the City of Rovaniemi and Team Leader Pekka Koivukangas of Voluntary Rescue Services (Vapepa). Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has strived to promote safety work and thinking at Lapland Safaris. Special thanks go to Markku Seurujärvi, who for over ten years has been in the forefront in promoting safety thinking in our company as well as cooperation among companies and safety authorities.
