Day 1
At the start of the trip your guide will give a brief introduction to the technic of Altai skiing. The trip starts at our Safari club in the afternoon and heads along the side of the fell Kaunispää up to the highlands of Saariselkä. The skiing distance and speed will be adjusted according to the skill and fitness level of the group. On average the skiing time is 2 hours. At the cabin the guide lights up the woodstove to heat the cabin, and together you pick up the water from the crystal clear creek outside and prepare a simple but tasty evening meal. After dinner there is still time to sit by the fire outside or even make short moonlight skiing trip to fell top and, if lucky, admire the Aurora Borealis. Later in the evening its time for a late supper and warm sleeping bags!

Day 2
In the morning we will have a breakfast and head through another route back to Saariselkä.

Day 1
Gear up and meet your guide before packing your things on the snowmobile and learn how to drive. From Saariselkä we go towards north, over the fells and into the forest. Now and then we drive out on the white open spaces on the lakes, allowing us to take a good look on the landscape around us. “The rough beauty of the area gives the landscape a mysterious feeling” The magnificent mountain Hammastunturi is rising towards the sky on the side of the snowmobile track. South of the mountain meanders Ivalo River where the big gold rush of Lapland took place around year 1870. At most there were hundreds of gold diggers living in villages along the river, waiting and hoping for luck. Gold mining is still important in Lapland and in 2008 a mining operation started in Kittilä in western Lapland. It has now turned out to be the largest gold deposit in northern Europe with a production volume reaching far higher than the output during the entire history of the gold-washing during the 19th century. Lunch at Inari.
Driving southwest from Inari the track narrows and the forest gets denser. From now on the driving becomes a lot more technical and challenging. When darkness fall the rocks and branches transforms into ghostlike figures and shapes. You can easily understand that people living up here used to believe that elves and gnomes where living under rocks and fallen trees.
In the afternoon we drive over the lake Menesjärvi before arriving at Korpikartano. A warm sauna and a nice dinner are waiting for us and from the yard you can search the sky for stars and Northern Lights.

Day 2
After breakfast it is time to start the journey back towards Inari. The ghostlike figures from yesterday have vanished and turned into trees and rocks again. Further to the west lies Finland’s biggest national park, Lemmenjoki, covering the area all the way to the Norwegian border. Except the open fells, the national park consists of majestic forests with pine trees and large areas with marsh and bogs and this kind of landscape is typical also along our route.
The village of Inari has given the name to the biggest municipality in Finland, occupying most of the northern part of the country. Though sparsely populated the municipality has four official languages. In addition to Finnish there are also three different Sámi languages. At the Sámi education center there is possibility to study not only Sámi languages but also Sámi handicraft, media production and tourism.
After Inari the route changes from narrow forests to open spaces on Inari Lake. The open spaces give a feeling of complete freedom, like you could continue to drive forever. Scattered islands rise from the lake and each and every one of them are telling
their own story. Via Ivalo River and the forests and fells around Saariselkä we arrive in the afternoon, full of new impressions and experiences. Lunch is served via route. .
